Another beer festival(Autumn Brew Review) has come and gone, I hope everyone that went had a safe and enjoyable time. My brother went and I haven’t heard the report yet. Another Vikings game and another loss. At least for this week we can still say we are tied with the Packers, that won’t last for much longer. Personally, I enjoyed my last scheduled volunteer shift at the Summit Brewery as at the end of the month the taproom opens with employees. I worked the gift shop and filled my closet with Summit swag. I still have the opportunity to volunteer at Summit events as they come up. As for NEW beers this week, here you go:
Millstream Brewing Co. – Great Pumpkin Imperial Stout
7.6% ABV
N/A IBU

I will say right up front that Pumpkin Ales are not my favorite, what caught my eye about this one was the style, Imperial Stout. Now if you’ve read Beer North for any length of time you may remember that this is my favorite style of beer. I thought the flavor was very good, hard for me to pick out the pumpkin, I did however pick out hints of chocolate. I found it to be a nice balance between sweetness and alcohol. I have NO brewery description, but I think you should give this one a try as it is my favorite pumpkin bar none!

Leinenkugel’s Brewing Co. – Big Eddy Baltic Porter
8.5% ABV
N/A IBU

Leinenkugel’s has done it again with their Big Eddy series of beers, as with the other ones I have had, this one is fantastic. This baltic porter has hints of toffee, cocoa, and obviously roasted malt. According to Leine’s: “With a blanket of malt flavor and notes of toffee, cocoa, caramel, toasted bread and sherry fruit flavors, Big Eddy Baltic Porter is a hearty dark beer that has a clean lager finish.” Get out and get one of these as the weather turns cooler!

Potosi Brewing Co. – Steamboat Shandy
4.5% ABV
N/A IBU

Another holdover from my trip to the Dells, probably not available here, so I will keep it brief. In my mouth I found it to be entirely too sweet and not tart enough. “Steamboat Shandy is a light bodied golden Ale blended with pure cane sugar and 100% real lemon juice. There is no artificial flavoring and, thus, it has a very clean finish. It’s not too sweet but provides for a refreshingly crisp and clean beer that can be savored anytime of year. However, during those hot summer days, I’ll bet you can’t drink just one.”-per Potosi’s website. I prefer Leine’s…
