- The February issue of Twin Cities Metro magazine is devoted to local beer. Highlighting new breweries, brewers, etc. Pick up the issue now at local bookstores.
- I may have mentioned this before, but it deserves a second look, Indeed Brewing Company will be rolling out beer this summer and have plans for a taproom. The brewery is located in NE Minneapolis and the head brewer, Josh Bischoff, came over from Town Hall Brewing. Read more from MNBEER.com HERE.
- The Top 20 Craft Breweries by sales 2011 was published by The Huffington Post this past week. As you probably could’ve guessed the top spot was Boston Beer Company followed by Sierra Nevada at number 2. The best part about the list is that 15 of the 20 breweries are available on OUR shelves. - Last Friday night was The Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild 11th Annual Winterfest at the Minnesota History Center in Downtown St. Paul. I like many of you, couldn’t get tickets, but if you’ve never been to it you should make it a point to do so in the coming years. I had to rely on the StarTribune’s review of the event for my info, Barley John’s of New Brighton won Best Beer according to the votes of the attendees of the event for it’s Dark Knight. - Alaskan Brewing announced that they will be switching out their twist off caps for pry off caps in the next few weeks. Be aware and grab for the opener when in doubt to save your hands.
- Widmer Brothers Brewing has released another beer in it’s Rotator Series, Spiced IPA. From what I can gather, it should be available soon if not already.
- MillerCoors made a stake in the Hard Cider market this week by purchasing Minnesota’s own Crispin Cider. For more info click HERE for StarTribune article. And not to be outdone, Anheuser-Busch(AB InBev) announced that they will be releasing a cider branded as Michelob Ultra Light Cider.
- Another beer I wrote about earlier and was looking forward to tasting, doesn’t appear like we will see it in our market. According to BeerNews.org, the 750 ML bottles of Bell’s Black Note Stout were released last week and appear to have been sold out, Read the post and decide for yourselves, but I’m not holding my breath.
- New brews that ARE available include: Sam Adams Dark Depths, Sam Adams Cinder Bock, and Founders Double Trouble.
- Tomorrow evening, February 9th, at Stanley’s Barroom in Northeast Minneapolis is hosting a Lagunitas Beer Dinner at 5:30. More INFO HERE.
- And finally today, a man fasted on beer and water for 46 days is a finalist in the Wynkoop Brewing Company’s 2012 Beer Drinker of the year Award.
