Steel Toe Brewing Company – Rainmaker Double Red Ale
6.5% ABV
65 IBU
After a one day hiatus, I have returned from my lack of sleep, to enjoy a THIRSTY THURSDAY HAPY HOUR with Beer North Nation! After last week’s NON Minnesota beer intro, I decided to get back on track and introduce you to another Minnesota brewery’s product. Steel Toe Brewing is located in St. Louis Park and fortunately for me, Liquor Barrel Miracle Mile is on my way home from work. Rainmaker is a year round offering from Steel Toe, the fourth of their beers I have enjoyed. I can tell you this, it pours a dark reddish brown color with a frothy head that takes a minute or two to subside. The taste is surprisingly hoppy to me with the alcohol seemingly forward…but what do I know? Think of Summit’s Horizon Red Ale on steroids, this has a very short finish that says, TAKE ANOTHER DRINK, DUMMY!! Steel Toe puts it this way: “When you find yourself parched, Rainmaker brings refreshment. Brewed with caramel and dark roasted malts then doused with a torrent of hops, this double red is sure to please, no dancing required.” Once again, Steel Toe does NOT disappoint, I’d suggest you do what you can to get yourself a bottle of this better than fine example of a double red ale, OHHHHHHHH and NOT to mention, it is a beer you can enjoy when it is hot and muggy!!

- A few things are happening at Summit Brewing:
1) The latest Unchained, an Abbey Ale, will be released on July 23rd on draft, locations to follow
2) It appears that my volunteering days may be numbered as Summit has decided to take advantage of the “Surly Law” and open up a taproom on premises. Dates have not been discussed, but you’ll be one of the first to know, I PROMISE!
3) A little birdie(my brother) told me that Jeff from Flat Earth has landed at Summit as their newest brewer, CONGRATS JEFF!!
I’ll BE BACK TOMORROW, I PROMISE!!
