This is the latest brew in New Belgium’s Lips of Faith Series, Tart Lychee. This is a beer that I picked up on my sour beer voyage. Of the sour beers I have tried the past month, this is probably my favorite of the bunch. I found it to be well balanced, not to tart, actually it was just tart enough to cause my mouth to water, begging for the next gulp. This beer is 56% ale aged in oak and 44% ale brewed with Lychee and cinnamon. Yes, I said cinnamon, a perfect compliment for the sour component. The label describes lychee as a fruit with tropical sweetness to which they add their wood aged sour beer and then top it off with cinnamon sticks. The only words that come to mind is WOW! If you are like I was, a sour beer virgin, then I would suggest this beer as a leaping off point to the style. This is a sour beer I will grab for in the future! GIVE IT A TRY, I believe you are going to like it!!
