Lucid Brewing Company – Dyno Pale Ale
5.2% ABV
35 IBU
Today’s Thirsty Thursday is from a local brewery that was launched in 2011. My thought last night is to try my best to feature a local beer to help promote our local brewing scene. I haven’t had the pleasure of sharing this brew with you, because the only place I’ve had it is at watering holes. Living in the Northeast suburbs, I don’t see Lucid products in my local stores. Lucky for me, I work in Edina and drive by the spectacularly stocked Liquor Barrel Miracle Mile, which is where I purchased this fine example of a pale ale. As I enjoyed it, the aroma imparts floral and citrus mixed together that actually bely the IBU rating of 35. The smell is stronger than the taste, so don’t be afraid. The taste has a perfect balance of hops and malt that is almost biscuity with a finish that is lightly bitter that finishes smooth and makes you want to have another gulp. The website describes this beer as “A crisp citrus aroma and flavor come from late additions of hops taken from the Pacific Northwest. The unique blend of hops lend to aromas of tangerine, pine, and fresh cut flowers. Late hop additions allows us to present a significant aroma and floavor with only a moderate bitterness.” After you finish the bottle, you wish you had another, I guess next time I’ll have to buy TWO or THREE! Congratulations Lucid on a fantastic brew!! I plan on congratulating you on Saturday at the St. Paul Summer Beer Fest!! Now it is time for BEER NORTH NATION to patronize this fledgling brewery and let me, and them know what you think!!
CHEERS!!
